2020 03 Flight along Hudson River and Manhattan
Eric, the pilot, and our little plane. Freeport: When everybody wants to have a boot moored to the house, it looks like this. And this is where they all cruise around. Poor nature. Long Beach and the boardwalk.
JFK airport in the back. We had to stay below 500 feet height not to interfere with the big guys. Manhattan downtown and midtown in the back. Approaching the tip of Manhattan alongside Brooklyn. Governors Island
Ferry Terminal and East River. Battery Park and the Financial District. One, Two, and Four World Trade Center, all glass and steel amidst older highrises. Midtown, from Hudson Yards to Empire State Building. The oversized matchsticks in the middle are apartment highrises, each level one apartment.
The Empire State Building is not the tallest in Midtown anymore. Highrises with apartments have taken over. The Big Tetrahedron Building at W 57 St, with its own park or atrium. Several matchsticks, all looking down on Central Park. Columbia University (green roofs) and Riverside Church in the front.
Upper Manhattan and the Bronx with the Yankee's Stadium. The Cloister Center for Medieval Art. Fort Lee, NJ. Small houses along River Road on a shallow part of the Hudson river bank. Very close to the Goldman Sachs building in Jersey City.
Ferry Terminal on Staten Island. A big container ship heading for the port facilities in Newark Bay.
